Health Sciences Leadership Career Tech Day for 8th Grade Students on Saturday, March 30, 2019, will address the need to increase students’ interest and engagement in STEM through innovative, nationally recognized informal science education programs where risk is rewarded, curiosity is encouraged, and creativity is expected.  Health Science Careers is a productive way to show students an application of the STEM concepts that they are learning in school. In addition the work of the STEM Coalition will address the STEM workforce imbalance and impacts that are needed for improved health career access, for innovation and for economic development.  There is a huge need for role models who make a difference in health careers.

The goal of Health Sciences Leadership Career Tech Day is to introduce eighth grade students to nontraditional male/female Health Science careers and to explain to middle school students how to be successful in high school and college science and mathematics courses and to consider nontraditional career opportunities in the health sciences.
