AR STEM @The Capitol Day

WHAT: AR STEM @The Capitol Day is a one-day, student-led advocacy event designed to highlight the importance of STEM education in Arkansas. Students from the EAST Initiative will meet with their legislators to discuss their work, exhibit projects in the rotunda, and hold a press conference. Additional STEM-related exhibitors will join students in the rotunda.

WHO:

  • EAST Initiative students from all five regions of the state:
    • England High School (Central Region)
    • Warren High School (Southeast Region)
    • Jonesboro International Studies Magnet Elementary (Northeast Region)
    • Sonora Elementary (Northwest Region)
    • Cossatot River High School (Southwest Region)
  • Arkansas legislators
  • Arkansas elected officials
  • STEM-related nonprofits and businesses

WHEN: Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

WHERE: Arkansas State Capitol, 500 Woodlane, Little Rock, AR  72201

WHAT ELSE: An associated exhibit will be held in the Capitol’s 4th Floor Gallery throughout March and April. The exhibit will examine the work of The Arkansas STEM Coalition and EAST Initiative and includes examples of hands-on STEM projects created by EAST students.
