Come have fun at this one-day Elementary GLOBE workshop. We will read science stories and carry out creative and exciting inquiry-based activities. The books and corresponding activities are designed for elementary readers. Elementary GLOBE materials also include extensive teacher’s notes and we will discuss its correlations to the Arkansas K-12 Science Standards.
Elementary GLOBE is designed to introduce students in grades K-4 to the study of Earth system science. The focus of this introductory workshop will include the Air Quality and Climate modules, the storybook and learning activities for these modules, and an overview of the Elementary GLOBE online resources, including the Teacher Implementation Guide.
The Teacher Implementation Guide provides an overview of Elementary GLOBE, the connections that the curriculum makes to literacy, the use of science journals, elementary science inquiry, standards alignment, and connections to other parts of elementary curriculum.
