Program faculty will develop a customized professional development (PD) course that will use Library of Congress’s digital primary sources as a portal to cross-curriculum teaching in the 6-12 classroom. 2019 is the Bicentennial of Thomas Nuttall’s Journey across Arkansas and into Oklahoma where he documented in great detail the Native Americans he encountered, the flora and fauna and the geography of the area. The program will include a four-day intensive 2019 summer program (18hrs) followed by two one-day (12hrs) follow-up sessions during the 2019-2020 academic year.
Target Audience: Team of 2 teachers: media specialist and a science teacher

Saturday meetings: September and October
Teachers will receive:
• 30 hrs of PD
• Up to $500 stipend
• Classroom support from UCA faculty
Commitment from the teacher:
. $50 registration fee/teacher•
. 4 days summer institute
• Attend 2 Saturdays of training during academic year
• Pre/post assessment and complete the required assignments
• Allow two classroom observations
