Good afternoon! I’d like to invite each and every one of you to attend the region’s first ever SciConn–the Science Un-Conference: Science Connections: Connecting Teachers; Connecting Ideas, Saturday, June 2 from 8:30am-noon.
The event will be hosted at the Northwest Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative (4 N. Double Springs Road, Farmington) and is sponsored by the Arkansas Science Teacher’s Association, with lunch provided by First Security Bank. This is our way of saying thank you to all the science teachers in the area for all your hard work (we know it’s not easy to spend your evening going to 6 Wal-Marts to buy out all their stock of some obscure size of battery for the lab you’re doing the next day!).
If you’re familiar with EdCamp, we’re following a similar format: participants will create the sessions when we arrive, and sessions will last as long you’d like. If you’re not familiar with EdCamp, check it out here!
Perks of spending a Saturday morning with us:
- Celebrate the end of the school year with Your People.
- Free stuff! Door prizes that include gift cards, NSTA books, and lab supplies.
- Free food!
- Build your network of science support–make connections that will make your life easier.
- Cost: $0 for 4 hours of professional development
- You’ll have a reason to visit Briar Rose Bakery–if you’ve been, you know what I mean. If you haven’t, you’ve got to go!
The flyer is attached, so please spread the word! Hang it up in your lounge, forward to other science teachers in your district. We’re so excited to bring this to NWA and celebrate you! Register here.
