Woods and Wildlife Workshop

Forest management practices provide some of the most important wildlife habitat enhancement tools available, primarily because forestry practices can be tailored to improve a wide variety of wildlife habitats while providing a continuous source of revenue, including timber production.
This 2-day interactive workshop will focus on a variety of Arkansas wildlife and their biology, history, and habitat needs. Session topics will include:
* Arkansas Black Bear
* Whitetail Deer
* Wild Turkey
* Bobwhite Quail
* Feral Hogs
* Habitat improvements including prescribe fire, forest thinning, and forest stand improvements
Session qualifies for 12 hours of ADE-approved professional development.
Registration fee: $40
Join us for this hands on, interactive workshop to learn more about these wildlife species and their habitat needs. This 2-day educational workshop will include presentations and in-the-field site visits. Participants will also meet and learn from natural resource professionals who are in the field conducting this work on a regular basis. Presentations from the Arkansas Forestry Association, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, National Wild Turkey Federation, University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, and the US Forest Service.
Space is limited to 25 participants per session and selected on a first-received, first-reserved basis.
The registration fee is $40/person for each session. This fee covers lunches, field transportation during the workshop, materials, resources, and ADE-approved professional development hours. The registration fee does not include lodging. Participants will need to make their own lodging reservations, if needed.
Applicants should be aware that this workshop will involve outdoor activities requiring walking in rough, uneven terrain and sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
