Join us at HSU STEM Center for an exciting 2 day professional development opportunity and learn all about VEX IQ robotics curriculum and competition opportunities. VEX IQ is a great way to incorporate coding into the classroom or in an afterschool program. By its nature, the study of robotics inherently incorporates all four pillars of STEM. VEX IQ is a snap-together robotics system designed from the ground up to provide this opportunity to future engineers of all skill levels. By packaging advanced concepts into an accessible package, the system also naturally encourages teamwork, problem solving, and leadership for students. VEX has a developed curriculum with 12 standards-mapped units includes hands-on activities, instructions, assessments, and rubrics for students. This two day training will not only prepare the teacher to teach coding and robotics, but participants will also leave with the knowledge on how to build and prepare a VEX IQ competition team and apply for team grants to help fund costs. Participants will receive full access to online curriculum, a VEX IQ super kit, and two days of instruction with Michelle Johnson, Director of the STEM Center at Henderson State University and Katie Curry, Science Specialist of the STEM Center at Henderson State University. Participants will also benefit from follow-up support provided by the STEM Center at Henderson State University. Fee is $395 and 12 hours of credit are earned.
